I don't think that German Shepherd would be able to herd sheep, physically, and that's if he passes the instinct test.

It is true popularity brought to a breed by media can be very damaging (Dalmatians, Chihuahuas, etc.) My understanding is that, thankfully, Doberman bite statistics (pity that they exist at all) have been pretty steady over the years, and didn't have a spike with their popularity a few decades back (Jim Gorant said so in The Lost Dogs, anyway).Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10562151546770315227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-938120942169485220.post-68509307341064302262012-02-14T23:48:20.575-05:002012-02-14T23:48:20.575-05:00There are hounds I like! There is so much more to it.

One draw back to a breed taking BIS at a high profile show like Westminster is that sometimes after a breed becomes "noticed", it is not always good for the dogs. People end up wanting the dog flavor of the moment and don't really consider whether the breed is the correct choice for them.

Of course there is no chance that a Chessie will take BIS. I do know some of the Chessies entered, but there are only 13 this year. Extremely low turn out.2browndawgshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15792375606466389228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-938120942169485220.post-57302702072168067182012-02-13T15:23:03.127-05:002012-02-13T15:23:03.127-05:00Lovely history lesson - I will vote for a Dobie if...Lovely history lesson - I will vote for a Dobie if there is no Hound :).Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17445732008559186410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-938120942169485220.post-50638958468802189152012-02-13T12:11:35.571-05:002012-02-13T12:11:35.571-05:00Responsible breeders have been given a bad rap in ...Responsible breeders have been given a bad rap in recent years.
