I guess people do say "in general" males won't get along, and it isn't a bad rule of thumb. Obviously, though, all dogs are still individual. She is a Malamute mix, and Malamutes are also known for this. This is also the reason she is my only girl, with two boys.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05565043193884340476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-938120942169485220.post-82496171829418349372013-11-23T00:04:29.157-05:002013-11-23T00:04:29.157-05:00Well, I know that we don't take Küster to a lo...Well, I know that we don't take Küster to a lot of places because he isn't neutered and a lot of male dogs have a problem with unneutered males (and some females do at times, too), but I hadn't heard of it as a breed specific thing to any one breed. It is kind of odd that there's no study published on it, but it might be one of those things that's been passed along for so long that everyone just sort of assumes it. houndstoothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02159272473651561647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-938120942169485220.post-31235517982013366302013-11-22T16:43:48.184-05:002013-11-22T16:43:48.184-05:00Many dog people preach the gospel that dogs are mo...Many dog people preach the gospel that dogs are more likely to be aggressive with other dogs of the same gender. I'd love to see a careful study on this. But it may just be one of those things "everybody knows" that just isn't true.

Aleksandra of Love and a Leash kept on getting female fosters because she already had a male at home. Her pittie, Chick, never got along with any of the girls. One time they got a male foster dog and Chick fell in love. They adopted him and never looked back.

Dogs are such individuals. They are more than their breed. They are more than their gender. I think the best thing is to know your dog and watch her behavior carefully before deciding what kind of new dog to bring into your home.Pamela | Something Wagging This Way Comeshttp://www.somethingwagging.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-938120942169485220.post-67787158568893145722013-11-22T11:29:50.240-05:002013-11-22T11:29:50.240-05:00That is really interesting.
