Elka's Swank New Collar!

So.....remember the Ceberus Designs princess collar that was on eBay as a fundraiser for the Doberman Assistance Network?

Well...while the bidding was going on, one of my lovely aunts emailed me about Elka's collar size, claiming that a pet store by her was having some great sales on leather collars, and she wanted to get one for Elka.

Guess who fell for it hook, line, and sinker?

Guess what came in the mail this week?

Yeah, that's right. My lovely Aunt Jen got that collar for Elka!

(Elka is still not thrilled with the red couch)

Of course, it's always dark out when I get home and get my mail, so the lighting for my pictures is atrocious (yeah, that's what I'll blame the quality on....).

Hopefully, Aunt Jen doesn't mind my outing her like this (and she is welcome to tell me if she is, obviously!)  I was just so thrilled when I opened the box. I thought "oh neat, the collar came!"  Then I thought "Holy smokes, her local pet store sells Cerberus designs collars?" Then I glanced at the card she wrote, but didn't fully process what she meant by "To a good cause." I mean, yeah, Cerberus designs donates to....wait a minute! This is THAT collar! So awesome. So thrilled!

I wondered, belatedly, where the personalization was. I remembered the auction saying that your dog's name would be in it...then I realized that the red rhinestone-y bit moves just a bit.

The rhinestones might be a bit too swank to have this as everyday wear, but on the other hand, we do also have a leather couch to lay around on now too. So maybe we'll rotate (I guess it's time to get one of those Rubit clips or something for Elka's tags, as she seemed profoundly weirded out by the fact that her collar for the photo shoot made no noise).

Thanks again, Aunt Jen! The Dobermans thank you as well (both the one in my home, and the ones that the Doberman Assistance Network helped with the fundraiser).

  1. She looks great! I love leather collars (Paco Collars addict and proud of it). Got the Rubit clips for the pups a while ago, and they're a lifesaver. So much easier than the Cetacea fabric clip things that had to go around the collar, so we could never have anything wider than 1 inch. :) You have a wonderful auntie!!

    1. The Paco Collars are lovely as well! Other than the nylon collar she had as a puppy (which still had a metal clip, not plastic), Elka has pretty much been in leather collars since. I just prefer the look of them, and I guess I'm inclined to trust them better.

      I do have a wonderful auntie ^^

    1. It's gorgeous! And I came to the realization (meaning *cough* I was informed) that the rhinestone bit actually comes off with snaps, so it's like 2 collars!

Thanks, we're very happy with the red couch! The yellow walls won't quite do anymore, but we'll take care of that in the spring.

    1. I am lucky to have such a great aunt! They're all pretty rad, truth be told.

I've heard good things about the Rubit clips, and it's an invention that makes sense!

  5. What a wonderful aunt you have! and Elka looks stunning in her new collar.

I had to laugh at your comment about your photos. My niece told me that she likes the "style" of the photos on my blog. My "style" is actually "last minute and poor lighting" (ha).

    1. Oh boy, "last minute" is frequently the case now as well. The downside to new furniture and new collars is I can't keep reusing my "stock" photos....people will notice!

    1. My aunt was very smooth, I genuinely didn't suspect anything!

Yes, we're pretty pleased that Elka's a bit better with the couch. She'll nap on it with somebody now, and won't immediately leave it if the human counterpart leaves for something.
