Bella is a blue girl in the care of at Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue. She needs an operation for an injury from being hit by a car before she'll be available for adoption.
Bella has a mild case of demodex mange which she's being treated for, and she's heartworm negative. She loves playing, but loves snuggling, and plays well with dogs of all sizes.
If you're interested in adopting Bella, you can fill out an application on the Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue web site. Adoption fees are $250 for adult Dobermans, and senior dogs (7 and older) have an adoption fee of $150. GCDR dogs are adopted on contract, and you can email them any questions at GCDR AT bellsouth DOT net.

Obie for adoption Pennsylvania
Blue is no longer listed on the Distinguished Doberman Rescue website, which per usual, I will take it to mean she's found a home. Is optimism a bad thing? I hesitate to judge it so, in cases such as these.
So today we're going to talk about Obie, who is for adoption through Dreaming of Better Endings Rescue, inc.

Doberman Health: Color Dilution Alopecia
In my The Doberman: Color post, I touched on Color Dilution Alopecia briefly. I've actually seen it coming up in Google searches, and thought that I would do a more in-depth (or at least slightly more informational) post.
It is a condition resulting in hair loss and skin irritation that only affects the dilutes of the Doberman breed, so blues (which are a dilute of black) and fawns (which are a dilute of red). I think Nola from Thursday's post is a blue, if that gives you some color perspective (I'm not saying she has CDA, just pointing out her color):

Senior girl Blue still looking for a loving home
Senior girl, Blue, is still looking for a loving forever home through Distinguished Doberman Rescue. Remember them? They're the ones with the lovely Seniors for Seniors program I talked about last month.
Blue is a natural eared blue Doberman who is 10 years old. In her pictures, she appears to have a lovely full coat. She loves being with her human, and also loves tennis balls and Kongs.

The Doberman: Color
Elka is a black and rust Doberman.
You may or may not know, the Doberman breed comes in four "acceptable" colors: black and rust, red and rust, blue and rust, and fawn and rust. The Doberman Pinscher Club of America has a page, and chart, on Color Inheritance, if you're interested. I remember drawing those squares back in seventh grade science class! In short, though, Black is the dominant color. Red is the other primary color (for lack of a better word. Black is dominant over red, however). Blue is a dilution of the Black Dobermans, and Fawn is a dilution of the Red (sometimes referred to as "brown", depending on who you talk to).
shocking, right?

Please Help! Blue Doberman Lost While Traveling Through South Carolina!
On February 26, a Doberman spooked at a rest stop in South Carolina and disappeared into the night. This was at the last rest area on the South Carolina-Georgia line on Interstate 95 (maybe around Walterboro, SC, on I-95?).
She is a blue Doberman, cropped ears and docked tail, trained in both Obedience and Agility. She was wearing a black studded leather collar and a choke chain. She will come to anybody who knows her name, which is Blue.

ANY information on her would be appreciated, and also any help. Please post and crosspost! If found, she does have an AVID microchip, and is registered to Lucy Jakubowski (the breeder), of Braveheart Dobermans. You can contact her at bravedobe@aol.com , or 716-557-2452
Keep your eyes peeled! Being in New York, as Ms. Jakubowski is, I can't help any more than this. The breeder will drive down to pick her up if she is found!
