Holiday Tips for Traveling With Your Dog
Let's face it, if you know me, you know I'm not super organized. Not a "planner", per se. I pull it together most of the time, but I lack foresight. So sometimes, getting Elka into the car and going to New Jersey for Christmas isn't always as hitch-free as I'd like.

Juke Box, 5 year old female Doberman in Atlantic City, NJ
(I've never used the "embed post" feature from Facebook before, so bear with me.)
The Humane Society of Atlantic County is in Atlantic City, NJ. If you think you might be interested in adopting "Juke Box" (not a bad name for a Jersey Girl, I guess!), the dog pre adoption application is here. There is also some information here about their adoption fees, and the fact that you need to bring state ID and paperwork pertaining to your residence (i.e., if you rent, you must bring your permission to have a pet).
To contact the Humane Society of Atlantic County, their phone number is 609-347-2487 and their email address is info AT hsacpet DOT org.

Blitz, with Distinguished Doberman Rescue, in Parsipanny NJ
Blitz is an adorable red boy who was pulled from a shelter in Georgia by DAN into a foster with Distinguished Doberman Rescue. He's 10 months old, natural eared, and with a docked tail.
A family with good Doberman skills is preferred, somebody who can set rules and boundaries, and teach Blitz all of what life has to offer. At 10 months, he's sure to be a handful (what puppy isn't, really?) but also at that age where he can just learn so much.
If you or somebody you know is interested in adopting Blitz and feels they meet these criteria, here is the link to DDR, inc's application process.
(picture from DDR, inc web site)
His Distinguished Doberman Rescue foster mama says Blitz is:
Good with other dogs
Will do best with children over 10
Cats unknown

Good new for Sayrevile, NJ shelter!
I've been checking on the Sayreville, NJ Petfinder page, but hadn't gotten back there for awhile.
Guess what?
I'll let you read it in their words:
So, I'm not sure if anybody got there and got a pet because of reading this blog. If so, that's pretty rad. If not, it's still rad. All of those dogs and cats are now at home!

In or near Asbury Park, NJ? go to Woofstock!
Woofstock is on August 16...that's this coming Thursday!
It takes place in New Jersey, land that I love. The Wonder Bar is just up the street from the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, and right across the road from the ocean and boardwalk. Woofstock is a concert that benefits the Monmouth County SPCA; it's also a pre-registration event for the "Grateful" Dog Walk and Pet Fair, which will be on October 6, at Brookdale Community College.
