Wordless Wednesday October 30 2013

Yeah, the heat's on now. I held out as long as I could. And I don't get tired of Doberball pictures. Really I don't!

Tuffie Squid, still swimming (.....kind of)

Back in March, I reviewed the Tuffie Toys squid that Elka had been playing with (in short, supervised sessions) since Christmas.

Mr. Squid only has 2 tentacles left. I've sewed him up just once, as Elka chews specifically on the area that's a ring of nylon reinforcing the seams at the "bottom" of the critter, where the tentacles were attached. This is also where I can see how valuable the extra layers Tuffie puts into their toys is; Elka hasn't been able to pull out any of the stuffing.

(it looks like it's saying "Help me.")

Some blasts from the past

I've been unpleasantly sick this week, so little "real" blogging is to be had. I figured I'd take today to link to some of my older posts, from "before I was cool" (I tried this on my writing blog, with what seems like minimal success. I guess that one isn't cool yet?) Truth be told, without the computer and blog, I'd be pretty confused regarding what day it is; missing work does throw one for a loop. But there we go, it's after Wordless Wednesday, so that means it's Thursday

Elka, I don't know why you're doing this.....

The other day, we were on the couch, waiting for friends to make a quick Walgreen's run, and waiting for our ordered Chinese food to arrive. (By the by, we can order from our favorite Chinese restaurant online now, using the Eat24 web site [which apparently also has an app, and gives you funny things to Tweet when you've placed your order], which coupled with Domino's makes me feel as though we're living in a more Jetson's future as the days go by.)

My fiancé  lay down with a blanket for the duration, and Elka lay with him. She cuddled under the blanket, and put her head on his foot. Then she slowly moved his foot with her head, perhaps for more comfort? More space? We weren't sure, and thought to blog about it. She also put her very cold nose on his bare ankle. He was thrilled.

Can't we just cuddle?

I was reading on the chaise lounge part of the leather couch the other day, and Miss Elka decided that she needed to be up there with me. We lay together companionably for awhile, but of course I couldn't just let things be. I had to get the camera.

Black and White Sunday February 24 2013

Oh, and for everybody who asked on Wednesday: Elka was holding a small "leather" notebook. There was a thread on Doberman Talk of dogs holding objects, and it was something that came to hand. I told Elka to "take it" and "hold it", and got the picture. Granted, it was of questionable quality, but there you go!

Sick and Sleeping

So, this week, I was largely felled by an unpleasant flu/cold thing. Not many activities were to be had.

Instead, there was a lot of this:

And some of this:

And even a little bit of this:

I will say, it's nice to know that you have a dog who ignores bags of used tissues that are within easy reach, because that would be totally gross and I don't even want to confront such an issue. It's also nice to have a nice, warm dog who will happily nap with you. If my nose wasn't plugged, I'm sure the Doberman-aromatherapy of brownies would have been very relaxing. Nice thing number 3? We thought to teach Elka hand signals, so when my voice went, we could still communicate just fine.

Elka's Swank New Collar!

So.....remember the Ceberus Designs princess collar that was on eBay as a fundraiser for the Doberman Assistance Network?

Well...while the bidding was going on, one of my lovely aunts emailed me about Elka's collar size, claiming that a pet store by her was having some great sales on leather collars, and she wanted to get one for Elka.

Guess who fell for it hook, line, and sinker?

Guess what came in the mail this week?

Yeah, that's right. My lovely Aunt Jen got that collar for Elka!

(Elka is still not thrilled with the red couch)
