UPDATED: Daisy WAS ADOPTED!! through DOBER, inc.

This is Daisy. She's in a foster home and available for adoption through DOBER, inc (Dreaming of Better Endings Rescue).

She's a natural eared fawn girl with a docked tail. Daisy is 11 months old, housebroken and crate trained, according to her foster mom. 

Obie for adoption Pennsylvania

Blue is no longer listed on the Distinguished Doberman Rescue website, which per usual, I will take it to mean she's found a home. Is optimism a bad thing? I hesitate to judge it so, in cases such as these.

Sad updates on Sweetheart and Remmy

So many calls for help, or donations, or adoption seem to be one-offs. I've done it myself, I know, and I hope to remedy that (and when I do, I sincerely hope that it'll be with happy endings)

Sweetheart  is no longer with us. A couple of days ago, she stopped wanting to eat, and it was very difficult to entice her. They tested her for Addison's Disease, and that came back negative. Whatever the cause, Sweetheart was in "complete and irreversible renal failure", and her foster folks were not going to make her suffer anymore. I'm glad she was loved, and not alone, and had that life for however short a time.

And on to Remmy.

I didn't mean to be prophetic on Monday when I posted about "It's All in How You Raise Them" and how not all dogs can be saved. Definitely a time I would love to be wrong, in fact. But, earlier in the week, and out of the blue, Remmy lashed out and injured his foster mom. Dreaming of Better Endings Rescue, inc. and a very experienced trainer put their heads together, and decided that with unknown triggers and unstable reactions like that (especially in contrast with his usual sweet, brilliant, and biddable personality), Remmy could not safely be adopted out. It was a very, very hard decision, but Remmy has been euthanized. Best wishes to his foster mom and her swift recovery (I don't know details on her injury, nor would I feel right posting them here).

We do understand that for a number of reasons, most rescues do not make these types of announcements to the public, but we feel very strongly that NO dog deserves to disappear quietly as if he never existed. Every life is precious and we want to honor that. Honesty is something that we have always felt was so important because you, our supporters, deserve it. For these reasons, we felt it only fair to let all of you know what happened.

And I respect this decision, which is one reason I'm updating here as well. Sad as it is, "What happened to Remmy?" is a question that, on the face of it at least, I know the answer to. 

So hold your loved ones close, and remember these dogs who have passed. They knew love and life without fear for the time they had in good hands.

Remember Remmy? He's back with his foster family through Dreaming of Better Endings Rescue, inc. (DOBER, inc)

Note from Remmy's foster:
Remmy is a super sweet boy who is so eager to please. He knows basic commands (sit, down, stay, shake) and will happily comply with anything you ask of him, though it's always accomplished with a wiggly butt. Remmy is crate trained but will need some additional help with housebreaking if being left uncrated. Remmy does have a burning desire to eat socks and blankets, so the appropriate home will be one that will make sure these things are not within his reach. He has been respectful of cushioned bedding and does not chew or destroy anything else but socks are his weakness!
Remmy is a boy who is very bonded to his people. We will consider a home with a very laid back resident dog but would prefer Remmy to go to a home where he will be an only dog. We are unsure of how he will do with cats. Remmy does seem to enjoy children but because of his size and energy level, a home with very small children may not be appropriate.

Remmy, looking for love in Bangor Pennsylvania

Meet Remmy!

He was picked up as a stray on city streets; Dreaming of Better Endings Rescue (DOBER, inc) thinks that he's about 3. He may or may not be a Rottweiler mix, or just a "big solid" Euro Doberman. He has a weakness for socks (Elka can sympathize) but otherwise doesn't chew inappropriately, according to his foster family.

He's very sweet and eager to please, and is very much a people dog. He would probably do best as an only dog, but a home with a laid back resident dog may work well for him. He is untested on cats. He is crate trained, but if his adoptive family wanted to leave him uncrated, his housebreaking may or may not need a little bit of work.

He loves belly rubs, and sitting to give a paw is one of his best tricks. He isn't a barker, even when dogs walk past in the neighborhood.
