Dog Bless You, for every 1000 likes on their Facebook page, will donate a service dog to a veteran, through July 4.
Another organization, Paws and Stripes, makes this a double header by getting the service dogs to be trained from shelters. There's more than one way to save a life!
K9sforwarriors.org also helps veterans by providing them with service dogs! It's great to know that there are so many organizations helping out so many people.

There sure are a lot of organizations doing good work in this area. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are! It was a pleasant surprise to learn about them.
DeleteAnother organization is Pets for Patriots, they pair up "less adoptable" pets with veterans or current service members. By "less adoptable" the animals must fit one of 3 criteria: over 2 years old, dogs over 40 pounds or a special needs animal. Pretty cool, since most of the younger dogs and cats tend to get adopted first. Thanks for spreading the word about these organizations!
ReplyDeleteThat's really neat, I like that they have those criteria! I tend to like dogs over 40 pounds myself ;) Thanks for the info.
DeleteWow, what great information. We'd love to use this as a guest post on Pet Blogs United to share the information. We would link it back to you, of course.
ReplyDeleteIf we have your permission, please e-mail us at PBU at comcast dot net.

Emailed you! ^^
DeleteI love the idea of so many groups working to get service dogs for veterans. I already like the first group, so I hope that counts! :P
ReplyDeleteYou asked about Kuster's leash. It's called a service dog leash(or sometimes a police leash), and it's very handy. It's got a couple of different rings on it, so it can be worn around your waist, over your shoulder, and make it longer or shorter based on what you need. Hubby got his from the Ray Allen catalog, but Leerburg sells them and so does J & J Supply Co. I hope that helps!
Yes, it's definitely neat to see groups working together like this!
DeleteThanks for the leash info. I'd seen leashes like this before and wondered if people were happy with them/took advantage of their "convertible" nature, that kind of thing. It's one of the first times I've "seen" one in action, actually!
Excellent! Thanks for the info. Heading over there now!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much! Remember to pass it on ;)
