One day after work, Elka and I drove to the park to make sure we could maximize the sunlight we might be able to have (it rained within an hour after getting home).
I didn't bring any treats this time, just a tiny squeaky toy that I keep in my pocket. We weren't too concerned with "rules", just basic manners and some cued behaviors to keep it interesting.
I'm happy to report Elka recalled well, remembered her "paws up" nicely, and in general had a good time. We did not see any snakes, though perhaps she was looking for some?
Actually, we didn't see much at all in the way of critters or even other people while on our walk. To me, that's kind of a relief, because I don't need to worry about people looking askance at either my choice of dog breed, or the two of us being goofy. I did get this great shot of Elka making a rather gooftastic face.
She is really such a beautiful girl! I love it when we get the park to ourselves and Elka looks like she was having a great time.
ReplyDeleteShe had a total blast!
Deletethat's a fabulous face, Elka. I hope you had a great walk and if you meet people in future I hope they will see how beautiful you are.
ReplyDeletewhen we meet people, a lot of them say how pretty Elka is!
DeleteMom is going to try training a bit with a toy. Fatty Edward responds well

Ooh, it's good that Edward responds well to toys!
DeleteWe love those times when we feel like we have the world to ourselves and Elka looks like she does too.
ReplyDeleteI think Elka likes having undivided attention ;)
DeleteWhat fun to get in some training time on a walk! Great way to keep it interesting for human and dog.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a great way to keep things interesting, for BOTH of us!
DeleteSounds like a fun time! The look on Elka's face says it all - she's having a blast!
ReplyDeleteElka loves her park time!
DeleteShe is gorgeous. I love tongue-hanging-out photos so very much. I love those quiet days at the park. Always an unexpected, pleasant surprise!
ReplyDeleteI prefer having the parks to myself. LOL Considering all the off-leash dogs I encounter.
