There was a four year old and a two year old, something along those lines, both boys. They were playing with sticks, their parents watching nearby, and the older one noticed Elka and I and waved. I waved back. He just stood and watched. The littler guy, though, started to make a beeline, so the mother got up to intercept. They were still somewhat at a distance, and I'd more or less kept walking.
The smaller boy said something, pointed, and then clearly yelled "Reindeer!" The mother laughed, and the older boy yelled "yeah, Reindeer!"
I said "She kind of looks like a reindeer." The mother shrugged, still laughing.
The older boy said "Thank you for showing us that!"
I said "You're welcome! Merry Christmas?"
Both little boys were all "Yeah! Merry Christmas!"
Well, I don't really see reindeer... but such a charming story! :-)
ReplyDeleteShe's also been identified as a cow by a very little girl, and once a goat, by an Italian gentleman (though in his defense, he only saw a glimpse of her when he made that assumption)!
DeleteHow cute. Have a lovely Saturday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly

DeleteThanks for the chuckle. That was so adorable! I love how you handled it. Merry Christmas Elka and Jen!
ReplyDeleteIt was so very funny and cute!
DeleteReally, I said "Merry Christmas" to joke with them, I didn't expect the kiddos to say it back!
Merry Christmas, indeed! Must be the ears - charming :).
ReplyDeleteThe ears and the haunches, I think! Maybe the red harness? I love kids at that age, though.
DeleteAw, how sweet
ReplyDeleteNola
They were cute little guys!
Deletehahaha that's class
ReplyDeleteIsn't it though? ;)
DeleteThat's adorable! Perhaps you can get them some reindeer antlers and a jingle bell harness for the holidays. :D
ReplyDeleteHah, that would be fun to jaunt around the neighborhood. It's good that I already thought red was Elka's color! ;)
DeleteLOL I guess Elka probably looked as big as a reindeer to them. :)
ReplyDeleteShe must have! Dog size is certainly relative to the little guys.
DeleteSo adorable! Love it. I love hearing kids' reactions to dogs. Guion was walking Pyrrha and was approached by a little boy who looked at him suspiciously and said, "Are you a cop?" Guion said, "No..." The boy narrowed his eyes and said, "Well, then why are you walking a German shepherd?" "Because she's our dog and she needed a home!" Guion said. The kid didn't look convinced.
ReplyDeleteHah, that's funny!
DeleteHe could've pretended to be undercover ;)
Hahaha! One man once compared my Irish Wolfhound to a camel. And a little girl once thought she was a sheep!
