Thanks so much to Sue Kottowicz, over at Talking-Dogs! Blog awards are a lot of fun, and kind of a break from my normal blogging mindset. Blog outside the box, friends!
- Thank the blogger bestowing the award and provide a link back to their blog.
- Share seven things about yourself.
- Share the award with seven other bloggers.
Seven things about myself:
1. We're into October, with November looming (the checkout periods at the library are 3 weeks for books. The next month is always looming). November for me means National Novel Writing Month! I'm currently working towards the end of writing a werewolf novel, and I think for NaNoWriMo this year, I'll be writing the sequel, while that world and action is fresh in my mind.
2. I have an improbably fondness for the Psy song and video "Gangnam Style". "Pop" is not normally my music of choice, regardless of what stripe pop it is (K pop in this case [Korean pop] or J pop or whatever...) Most of the music I like is from twenty to thirty years ago or more, in fact, with Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Pink Floyd featuring heavily.
3. I try not to be superstitious, but I am, at least a little, if only with regards to doing things for luck. I touch the ceiling of the car if I go through a yellow light. I always put my right shoe on first, never the left. I have two different sets of one type of dice; one of the sets "rolls well", the other does not.
4. I don't like spoilers of any type. If I'm going to watch a movie, frequently I won't even watch a trailer. Regardless of the media, books, TV shows, or movies, I don't want to know anything that's going to be happening, because if I know a key point or occurrence or whatever, I spend my entire time anticipating that thing to happen.
5. I miss Elka when I'm at work. There are times throughout the day I put my hand down, expecting her to be there, and she isn't. I eat dinner at work, and it's so odd to have a meal without a certain pointy head nearby.
6. I will typically read a book if there is a dog in it, even if the dog isn't the main character or focus. Granted, I still have to be interested in what the book talks about, be it fiction or non fiction, but typically the addition of a dog makes things better.
7. I have a very strong sense of protecting my personal space, with notable exceptions: Family, my fiance, some friends, and Elka. Otherwise, I'm not really a very huggy person, and if I'm in conversation with somebody I don't know well, is a stranger, or I just met, I want that arm's length between us.
Edit:
d'oh, I forgot the 7 bloggers I was passing it on to!

Congrats for you award :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I always get drawn to books with dogs on the cover or dogs in the title, and then I'm terribly disappointed when they're not actually about dogs. :)
ReplyDeleteCOngrats on your award! I do that same phantom pet thing when I'm at work too! I reach for Fe and he's just not there! Oh to work in a dog friendly office!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award. Have a lovely Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Congrats on you award. You deserve it. Thanks for including us!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award! It is so well deserved. I really love all the little tidbits you shared about yourself.
ReplyDeleteThe superstitions one made me raise an eyebrow as I had never heard of the yellow light thing or the right shoe thing. (I always, and this is out of OCD not superstition, put my left shoe on first. Am I jinxing myself?)
Also related to the OCD-thing, I can totally relate to your number 7 - in fact, it's a running joke between me (introvert) and my boss (total extrovert)! Sorry but bosses do not make the "okay" list. lol
Congratulations on your award, it's always nice to be recognized by your peers.
ReplyDeleteI do so wish I could bring my dogs with me to work, or work from home. Delilah at work though....well I have to pick up everyone's trash cans, close doors, block things off, it's easier for her to be at home.
Sampson would greet everyone and then just find a good spot to lie down, but then I would be worrying about what Delilah was doing at home! LOL
Congratulations on being "lovely." I will also read any book even remotely connected to a dog.
ReplyDeleteI'm almost exactly the opposite with dog books. I am so suspicious that things will not end well for the dog that I won't read it, unless I have some kind of evidence that the dog makes it.
ReplyDeleteWoot-woot! Congratulations on your awesome award!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the Klingon Style version? If you're at all a Trekkie, it'll crack you up. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on #7. Although I often need more than arm's length. Some (not) funny friends at work think it's humorous to hug me at random times because they know I loathe it. ;)
Congrats on your award!!! Ma loves classic rock too!! She still likes rock, and it really can get embarrassing at times......
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby

ReplyDeleteI'm with you on musical tastes--and I'd add psychedelic rock like that of Yes and stoner rock like the Dead :) Congrats on all those awards!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award and thanks for passing it on to us. Good luck on your Werewolf novel. I too am superstitious even though I tell myself not to be and now I have just learned a few more things to be superstitious about! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCongrats and thanks for passing it on!

Congrats on the well-deserved award!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award - well deserved!
ReplyDelete(as as you know, I'm also improbably drawn to Gangnam Style!)
Congratulation on the award. And you shared the most unusual 7 things I've seen so far.
ReplyDeleteBTW, glad to know I'm not the only non-hugger. When did it become the standard way of greeting strangers? And why?
In honor of your award, I'm attaching a little Gangnam Style gift. Hope you like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmBByDQHJAA
