Those of you tuning into the new furniture saga know that Elka is all right with the love seat. She's slowly, slowly, warming up to the red couch. The love seat is undeniably comfortable. The arms are of a good height to rest her paws and/or head.
For some reason, though, if Elka is on the love seat, the throw pillows may not be.
It doesn't matter where the pillows are in relation to her. They can be up on the back of the couch, against the stair railing. They can be against the arms. They can be flat on the cushions. She jumps up on the couch and noses them, vehemently, on the floor before settling down with her contented groan.
If I see her starting to do it, I can tell her "leave it", and she will. But it's just so curious and funny that I just let her go most of the time.
(they're closing on on the perimeter!)
Really, part of the fun of dog ownership (for me) is to see what she's going to do next.
(a rare moment of pillow attrition)
Makes me suspicious of the pillow if Elka dislikes it that much. When I saw the title of your post, I was imagining that I would see a disemboweled pillow.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Our dogs ALL love pillows - to the point where they will steal them from us, and lay their heads next to us on them at night (because of course they sleep on our bed...). Suvi is the baby spoon in the order of spooning in our bed, and we should probably just get her a pillow, because she sleeps like a person....
ReplyDeleteFunny, I think she just wants all the space for herself! That is a big dog!
ReplyDeleteI mentioned this on Twitter, but I find it funny because Arie is a pillow hog. She wants ALL THE PILLOWS and cuddles with them, or curls up on top of them and looks at you like "what? oh, did you want one of these? ...I'm kind of using them..."
ReplyDeleteI'm with Karen and Gerard on this one--I think Elka just wants to be queen of the couch!
So funny! My Finn does the same - he 'digs' them up and kicks them off. He doesn't care that they're silk and hand made!
ReplyDeleteShe apparently likes her personal space, with no pillows.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing - If you found out why, please let my staff now - they say that's a miracle ;o)
ReplyDeleteMy Freddy does the same thing! He even noses the pillows if they're flat on the floor. I think he needs to feel like a bully once in a while!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. :) My dogs aren't supposed to be on the furniture, so they don't knock pillows off, so as not to leave evidence. There's always a warm spot and dog hair on the couch when I get home, but pillows remain intact. I wonder why Elka hates the loose pillows so much.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Leroy does the same thing! It cracks me up to watch him. It's like he's having his own personal fight with the cushions! I'm so glad to know that there is another dog out there that does the same thing!
ReplyDeleteEvil spirits may be lurking in the pillows.
ReplyDeleteSampson does something similar with the sheets I put on the couch. They stay nice the first day but within a day or so, you cannot even find them. He likes sleeping directly on the sofa. :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jan, perhaps there are evil spirits lurking in the pillows.
Haha I guess she doesn't like clutter. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like Elka is a dog who knows what she likes BOL
ReplyDeleteElka is quite the decorator. She likes the minimal look. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky. Silas wants to take our pillows and run off with them. Preferably to chew the corners off. We had to buy a decorative chest to put them in and we only pull them out at human nap time.
ReplyDeleteNo pillows Elka! I rest my head on one cause it helps my flat nose breed better
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I don't trust em' either Elka. Don't let the peeps fool you, they're up to no good. I know it. I'm with you on this Elka.
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby
My favorite thing about pillows is the look on the human's faces after I tear them up!
