Star and Storm suddenly began pulling said dog walkers. This was out of character for the dogs, and the walkers, bless them, went along with it. They ended up nearly a mile away, on a low traffic road, to find a woman had lost control coming off an embankment and crashed. The dog walkers were able to call emergency services for help, and the woman was taken to the hospital, though the article I linked does say there were no serious injuries.
So, Dobermans in England are quite the Good Samaritans, aren't they? Remember a year and a half ago, when a Doberman puppy alerted people on the beach to a struggling swimmer? Good stuff. And people wonder why I love the breed so much!
(Elka, who has not yet saved anybody's life. I hope she never has to.)
So glad the dog walkers listened to the Dobermans instead of just thinking they were being weird and disobedient dogs. I do think some breeds are more in tune to investigating strange sounds and smells in their environment.
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad the walkers listened too. I mean, Dobermans are weird, but it's in a good way!
DeleteWow that is some story
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I thought it was so awesome I had to share!
DeleteHeroes!!
ReplyDeleteThey really are!
DeleteThese are rescue Dobermans! They need homes - surely, a follow up story will have people clamoring to adopt these insightful, instinctive dogs. Three cheers!
ReplyDeleteThey're such smart dogs, not only are they heroes but also knew the best way to get forever homes.
DeleteGood dogs, Storm and Star, good doggies. I always love these animal rescues human stories.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice until Roberta pointed it out that these dogs are in a rescue org. I do hope that information will get out more prominently so all the dogs in that group can find the loving homes they deserve.
I didn't notice it initially either, at first. I do hope this means the rescue and these dogs get more public attention!
DeleteThat's amazing. I wonder if they had heard the crash. Smart doggies, either way, and I do hope it helps them find new homes. :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe the woman from the crash will take one, wouldn't that be something?
It's possible they heard the crash, even at that distance. Dogs are pretty amazing!
DeleteIt would be neat if the woman ended up adopting one of her rescuers. What a great story that would be.
Oh, very cool!! Smart, alert doggies fursure!!
ReplyDeleteGreat story!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Thanks!
DeleteDobies rock! I almost adopted a Dobie-Lab mix years and years ago. She was a sweetie but she was a bit too much for our older dog. I always remember her, and I hope that her life turned out well.
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome stories.
"A bit much" is a good and typical descriptor for Dobermans! I wonder, sometimes, that we survive Elka ^^
DeleteThat's awesome, I love hearing these types of stories!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! It's really great to hear about that kind of canine intuition, coupled with people going along with them.
DeleteThe true heart of a doberman. Bravo Star and Storm!!
