Anonymous Dog Opinion, 3

Everybody's a critic, right?

What you're about to see is not a product of Elka, but rather a dog whose identity (and whose owner's identity) will remain protected.

The book in question, for it was a book, was from 1929, and was essentially sheet music with cardboard covers, on how to play the Ukelele.

I do apologize for the quality of the photos; first, I took them with my phone, and second, I couldn't remove what was left of the book from the manilla envelope to do so.

It is now, quite literally, a pile of shredded pages. Originally, the book cost 50 cents. There's been some inflation, though, so the owner will pay a bit more than that. Not too much. But I do hope this owner is sure to place books out of doggie reach in the future!

  2. Uh oh...it sounds like someone might be in trouble. I hope the cost of the book wasn't too much more than 50 cents.

    Happy Monday

    1. It wasn't unreasonable! Luckily, the book was kind of in falling-apart shape anyway, so it's not like an archival quality antique got shredded.

    1. Same here, knock wood!

Though Elka will shred a napkin or paper towel, given the chance.

  6. Rooo I've chewed a couple of library books - they taste fab - but then I have to use all of my pocket money to replace them! *Waggy tail*

    1. It happens, once in awhile! I think a lot of people eat while reading, so they must have the memory of food in the pages!

  7. Oh no, that does not look good.

  8. I had an Old English Sheepdog who specialized in chewing only the books I used to teach classes. It was a little embarrassing to bring books in baggies until I could replace them.

  11. Are you sure it wasn't Elka? Some DNA testing will have to be done methinks.

  12. Books are so yummy. We've lost a few library books to dogicide and nearly my entire cookbook collection. :(

    1. Maybe it's the book glue that gets their attention? I really don't know.

  14. Oh wow, now that's quite a conundrum! Never had a pup do that - maybe I should consider myself luck! :)

    1. I definitely consider myself lucky! I don't have to sweep the house for paper products every time I leave Elka unsupervised.
