So, what to use as a treat instead? If you're like me, you haven't made your own jerky yet. You probably also have a dog that you like throwing a treat to once in awhile, if not having actual training sessions in which treats are currency.
Enter Pure Bites, which I found while looking for something to add in my Mr. Chewy order so that I got free shipping.
I saw the Pure Bites on the list and hesitated, thinking "You won't get me that easily!" So, I Googled them. And came up with the same information that was listed on the Mr. Chewy site.
Ingredients? Beef liver.
Country of origin (and again, I was fooled by this one before too. Waggin' Train says USA on it as well)? USA.
I'm not sure why it's printed in French, as well. Maybe they have brisk Canadian sales? Regardless, I figured I'd give them a shot, because they were cheaper than shipping, and I couldn't find any warnings about them, so these claims might be truthful.
They're not all that smelly, which is nice. Smelly dog treats are not a pleasure for me to work with; Elka, I think, doesn't mind. She is a dog, after all. Being freeze-dried liver, though, the treats do not last long once in Elka's maw. So, in absence of an action shot, I went with the product spot. Who knows, maybe we'll get a sponsorship?
