So, I've been thinking for a little while about maybe doing a little ebook.
Dog training, for Dobermans, that kind of thing. What do you guys think? It could be as simple as putting my Command Clinics together; even though there are only 7 (according to my tags. I don't think I missed any?), they're kind of "things your dog should know, plus some fun stuff". Of course I'd need a zippier title than that!
There are a lot of dog training ebooks on Amazon.com, and I'm sure some of them are better than others. That's definitely one reason I've been thinking of this. If they can do it, I can too, right? Plus, there's always a deficit of Doberman information.
Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Requests? Lay it on me! Tell your friends. I'd really love to hear them!
I say go for it!! You never know unless you try and I think you're right, if others can do it, why can't you?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you'll have fun doing it and we'll have fun reading it…… of course, I'll not guarantee to abide by any of it - and I may not show it to Mum!! Tee Hee
Oh and I actually like the title, I think it's funny! :)
You're even inspiring me to get on with the book I'm supposed to be working on - Squirrel chasing is way more fun!! :)
Good luck
Your pal Snoopy :)
It's hard to work on the book you're "supposed" to be writing, isn't it? ;)
DeleteI think it's a great idea if you are up for it. I don't know much about it so I've no advice to offer. Just to say, I think your command clinic posts are well-written and easy to understand. That's got to be a selling point, right?
ReplyDeleteGood luck and if/when you get this done, let us know. (I'd also think an eBook about the Doberman breed would be great - I think you have enough posts about that to pull together into a small book... :)
A lot of my info is recycled, truth be told, but also what I used/changed for use with Elka, so I figure it's just different enough!
DeleteReally, I don't quite feel qualified to write an entire book about the Doberman breed. A memoir about having a Doberman, yes, but I don't know enough about the breed history and influential Dobermans to be comfortable declaring myself an authority quite yet.
Everything is a learning process!
I don't have a Doberman, but you seem to have a good background to do an e-book. We enjoy your posts and your ability to relate to the readers.
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else, doing a "mini training" ebook will give me some experience working with something like Amazon's Createspace. I got the idea because I look at training books online all the time, and noticed a lot of cheap ebooks that I wasn't quite sure were likely to be all that helpful.
DeleteI think you could definitely pull it off. You might consider also getting someone well known in the dog world to do a forward for you. E-books don't do this for some reason, but its an effective advertisement tool in traditional publishing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe forward is a great idea! I didn't think of that.
DeleteGo for it!

Not a single "No, you're crazy, what do you know about dog training?" so far!
DeleteI reviewed your clinics and say "Do it!" let us know; I'll read it, apply it to Justus (who has a very good "leave it" esp. when I really lower my voice). You could wow Amazon :).
ReplyDeleteIt would be really cool to take the Amazon dog training ebook world by storm!
DeleteSometimes Elka needs the "different" voice as well. And then she's huffy that she got that voice. And then I tell her, in a mom voice, "Well, if you listened in the first place....."
You should do it!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely thinking about it! Now I need to look at how it is you make the ebook happen (thinking Amazon, I've looked at the CreateSpace options before).
DeleteYou don't really have much to lose in trying it! Give it a shot and see what happens!
ReplyDeleteNothing to lose is definitely true, and certainly room for gain!
DeleteYou should go for it. I'll bake cupcakes as a celebration!
ReplyDeleteYeah, cupcakes!
DeleteOr tiramisu? ;)
Awesome idea, especially with your focus. How about, "If they can do it, a Doberman can too!" What you said about yourself is catchy! Go for it, then announce it and we can all share it to boost exposure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the offer! I'm definitely happy with all the "go for it's"! that I'm getting from you guys!
